As I was talking about early, Nintendo and Sony both have E3 press events today. With the Nintendo event ending just a few moments ago, there was some news that came form them as well.
This may just be as big of a deal as Kenect form Microsoft.
Nintendo announced the 3DS. A fully 3D Nintendo DS. Just like you old DSi, but with 3D, a faster and better processor (both graphic and CPU), a thumb stick for more tactile control, and 3d front front facing camera for taking 3D stills, and a much larger top screen.
The tech here is pretty interesting. They haven’t gone into detail of how it works, but NO glasses are necessary. You can enjoy 3D without the glasses. No release date (or price) as of yet but I assume it will be available soon since they have them on the show floor to test.
There is also a 3D depth button that you can set the amount of depth of 3D you want, or turn it off completely. They have also included an accelerometer in order to compete with the iPhone. This may mean trouble for Apples baby iPhone 4 which hasn’t been released yet. With the increased graphics ability which are said to be close to game cube standard in a hand held.
More info as it comes as well as some better photos.
Thanks to Engadget for the photo.
